If you were expecting for some more details about the new Mercedes-AMG E63 4MATIC than one of the main question you’ve had was “what price-tag it’s going to wear” than now we have the official statement. In Britain the hotrod taxi costs £78,935 for the regular and £88,295 for the super hot S version, and £106,585 for the posh Edition 1 model.
Powering this lot is an engineering marvel called AMG’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 571 hp in the E63 and 612 hp in the E63 S. That translates in the former into a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 3.5 seconds while the latter does it a tenth of a second faster. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph – unless specified with the AMG Drivers package which increases the top speed to an electronically limited 186 mph.
One cool highlights of the Mercedes-AMG E63 is the 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive which, especially in Britain with its usually wet roads, provides plenty of sure-footedness. In the S version this system changes character when you put it in Drift mode and becomes a complete looney. It also comes as standard with AMG Ride Control sports suspension; 19-inch AMG five twin-spoke alloy wheels; Nappa leather upholstery; split folding rear seats. As for the Edition 1 models, the main highlights include 20-inch AMG cross-spoke wheels in black; designo Selenite Grey magno paint; and AMG Night package, as well as MG sports seats and Dinamica steering wheel with yellow contrast stitching, plus AMG carbon fibre trim.
